Hearty Beef Stew

Want a ‘set it and forget it’ meal for your firestation crew? Nothing beats a hearty beef stew!  

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 c all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 c beef broth
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp Worcesterchire sauce
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large bay leaf

  1. Place meat in slow cooker

2. Mix flour, salt, and pepper together in a small bowl.  Pour over meat and stir until meat is coated.

3. Add beef broth, carrots, potatoes, onion, celery, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic, and bay leaf to slow cooker.  Stir to combine.

4. Cover and cook until beef is tender enough to cut with a fork (low 8-12 hours, high 4-6 hours).
